Moore Stephens Sydney West (Parramatta) recently announced two senior appointments, Mr Graeme Beattie to its Corporate Recovery Division and Mr Brad Barnes to its Assurance Division.

Mr Beattie has more than ten years’ experience working in corporate recovery including all forms of corporate and personal insolvency appointments, investigations, business reconstruction, trade-on situations and specialised court appointments.

Mr Beattie has a great depth of experience in various industries including agriculture and supporting services, building and construction, information technology, retail and wholesale, transport and storage and manufacturing.

Mr Barnes has more than 18 years’ experience in the fields of internal and external audit and assurance, management consulting, financial evaluation, viability and business performance. His expertise cross a wide range of services including review and evaluation of internal controls, change management, budget development and implementation, financial statement preparation, financial system implementation, documentation of accounting systems, implementation and testing of audit programs and contracted accounting assistance to a number of organisations.

Mr Michael Hilliard, Moore Stephens Sydney West Managing Partner, said the appointments of Mr Beattie and Mr Barnes were part of his firms’ growth plan. “The firm is now the largest independent accounting firm in the Western Sydney Region,” Mr Hilliard said, “but it’s critically important for our clients and our staff that we continue to develop our service offerings and deepen our expertise in key areas.

“Graeme brings outstanding experience and expertise to our Corporate Recovery Division which will complement very well the existing skill set of our two Corporate Recovery Partners and their team,” Mr Hilliard added.

“Our Assurance Division will also benefit greatly from Brad’s outstanding skill set and experience gained over many years in the industry. He will be a terrific asset to the Assurance Team as they continue to deliver market leading assurance services to many organisations in the Western Sydney Region.”

The appointments in Sydney West follow the recent addition to the Moore Stephens network of three new member firms from other mid tier networks.

In March of 2010, Moore Stephens Canberra (formerly Ascent) joined the Moore Stephens network from the Bentleys network. The addition of Ascent followed the admission of PKF Southport as Moore Stephens Gold Coast on 1 December 2009 and the merger of the former Horwath South Australia with the audit division of Moore Stephens’ previous Adelaide member firm to form the new Moore Stephens Adelaide on 2 November 2009.

Mr Stephen Humphrys, Moore Stephens Australia Chairman, said Moore Stephens had worked hard to build a network of like-minded firms committed to success by delivering quality work for quality clients, but not at the expense of the quality of life of partners and staff. “We also aim to deliver to our member firms appropriate, high quality centralised resources with a conservative cost structure designed to deliver maximum value,” Mr Humphrys added.

“The admission now of a Bentleys firm, a PKF firm, a Horwath firm and high quality individuals from other mid-tier networks says to me that we are getting the balance right and building a genuine, truly great mid-tier network.”
